Chapter 97: Patient Li Ze, All Executioners

Late at night.

The Undead Hospital remained eerily quiet and cold.

Having been promoted to Chief Doctor, Ji Yan no longer needed to rely on his Work ID or uniform for protection. His tall, imposing figure—more terrifying than even the Supernatural Entities—was enough to deter many of the dangerous NPCs that spawned after midnight.

The Ghostly Nurse walked ahead, briefly explaining the Mission details.

"We just received a hospital notice. The patient in C50 suddenly took a turn for the worse and urgently needs examination and treatment."

"This is a patient under our care."

Ji Yan asked casually, "Have you met this patient before?"

"Once. The patient's name is Li Ze. When his condition spirals out of control, he becomes dangerous. He previously harmed several doctors and nurses, which is why he was transferred to the Emergency Building."

"So, I've hit the jackpot again," Ji Yan remarked with a hint of resignation.

The interior of the Emergency Building was different from what Ji Yan had imagined. Though called a hospital ward, it resembled a prison more than anything else.

Each room was sealed with steel-reinforced doors, leaving only a small window. The corridors were desolate, the broadcast speakers crackling with static, and the atmosphere was sinister and unsettling.

Ji Yan's eyes flickered—every small window in the wards had eyes staring at him, filled with a chilling, desperate hunger...

Turning a corner, he came face-to-face with another doctor.

The man had a horse-like face, pineapple-like hair, and protruding cheekbones—his features were indescribably bizarre.

His chest bore the title of Chief Doctor, along with a horse-head badge.

Horse Player!

The appearance of a new player made Ji Yan's brow twitch slightly.

The Horse Player also noticed Ji Yan and offered a warm smile. "Congratulations. You're the hospital's first Goat Chief Doctor. From now on, we're colleagues."

He extended his hand.

Seeing that Ji Yan had no intention of shaking it, the Horse Player didn't take offense or show any sign of awkwardness.

"Be careful. Many eyes are watching you. The position of Chief Doctor is sensitive—don’t give them any leverage."

With that, he walked past.

Ji Yan stared at his retreating figure, unconvinced that the man had offered such a friendly warning out of genuine goodwill.

"Goat Doctor, we've arrived at C50," the Ghostly Nurse announced, stopping ahead.

The door to C50 was secured with multiple locks and reinforced with layers of iron bars—it looked more like a cell for a high-security prisoner than a hospital room.

The Ghostly Nurse retrieved a Key and methodically unlocked each one before stepping aside.

"You're not coming in?" Ji Yan asked.

"The patient in C50 has spiritual cleanliness—he doesn’t allow any Medical Staff other than doctors to enter."

Ji Yan countered, "What happens if you go in?"

The Ghostly Nurse smiled faintly. "It would crush my skull."

Ji Yan chuckled. "I don’t believe that. Why don’t you come in with me and see?"

The Ghostly Nurse showed no resistance, nodding obediently like a servant. "As you wish, Teacher."

She moved to step inside.

"Just kidding."

"You’re my student, after all. I wouldn’t be that cruel."

"Wait outside."

Ji Yan stopped her with a verbal command and pushed the door open, stepping inside alone.

The interior of the ward wasn’t as bizarre as Ji Yan had imagined, nor was it like B11, which existed in another world entirely.

It was just an ordinary hospital room, neat and tidy, with a scruffy-looking male patient sitting on the bed.

He appeared to be in his thirties, unkempt and disheveled, currently hunched over as he chewed on something while fiddling with an object in his hand.

Upon closer inspection, it was a meat grinder.

And he was feeding his own fingers into it, the flesh mangled and bloody until the blades of the grinder finally broke.

He sighed and tossed the grinder aside with disinterest.

Then he looked up at Ji Yan, raising his bloodied hand in greeting.

Spitting out what he had been chewing, he smiled faintly. "Director Goat, you’ve finally arrived."

Ji Yan glanced at what had been spat out.

It wasn’t gum or betel nut.

But two razor blades.

When he opened his mouth to speak, blood dripped freely, his tongue and the inside of his mouth horrifically lacerated—a sight that sent chills down the spine.

Ji Yan frowned slightly. What kind of mentally ill patient was this?

Did he suffer from self-harm disorder, or some kind of injury fetish?

"They said your condition has worsened."

"But I don’t see any signs of deterioration."

Ji Yan set the medical kit aside and spoke calmly.

Li Ze pinched his mangled hand, the wounds deepening under his rough handling until the white of bone became visible—an unsettling sight.

"Doctor, many worsening conditions aren’t visible on the surface."

"My condition isn’t good, so I use pain to relieve it."

"Pain clears my mind and distracts me. It’s a method that never fails me."

"Goat Doctor, if you ever feel troubled, you should try it too."

Li Ze grinned.

"Thanks, but I’m healthy. I don’t need it."

Ji Yan shook his head, then asked, "So, you’re saying your mental depression has worsened?"

Li Ze leaned against the wall and shook his head. "My lover… she’s also receiving treatment in the Emergency Building."

"We can sense each other. Starting an hour ago, I felt something happen to her."

Ji Yan frowned. "Her situation doesn’t seem related to yours."

"If you want to see her, you shouldn’t be asking me."

Li Ze grinned, his mouth bloody. "She is the source of my illness."

"If she dies, I won’t survive either."

"You could say she’s the root of my depression."

Ji Yan raised an eyebrow.

What kind of devoted lover was this?

Since when did the Supernatural Game have NPCs with this kind of backstory?

Ji Yan: "So, you want me to take you to see her?"

Li Ze smiled. "Patients in the Emergency Building can only be taken out by doctors."

"All I need is to see my lover safe and sound. That’s all."

Ji Yan naturally didn’t believe it was that simple.

"They said you’re dangerous—that your condition worsened and you harmed many doctors and nurses, which is why you were sent to the Emergency Building."

At this, Li Ze suddenly lowered his voice mysteriously. "Goat Doctor, you must be new to this hospital."

"Let me tell you a secret—I did it on purpose, just to be sent to the Emergency Building."

"Because this hospital… it’s a hospital that eats people!"

"They send cured patients to that place for inhumane medical experiments."

"That's why I deliberately killed those doctors and faked worsening symptoms—no matter what, I absolutely cannot be cured!"

Li Ze chuckled darkly.

"There's no such thing as 'discharge' in this place. Leaving the hospital means stepping into your grave!"

"Can't you see? This whole hospital is like a prison! We're both patients and prisoners who can never escape!"

His laughter grew increasingly manic.

By all appearances, he seemed like a patient suffering from persecutory delusion, spouting nonsense and weaving wild conspiracy theories.

Ji Yan fell silent.

He was particularly sensitive to lies.

But at this moment, he couldn’t tell whether Li Ze was trying to deceive him or actually revealing the truth about this hospital Instance.

"Goat Doctor, how many patients have you treated?"

Li Ze grinned, his mouth smeared with blood.

"Four or five."

Li Ze shook his head, sighing in mock pity. "What a shame."

"You think you saved them, but in reality, you killed every single one of those patients..."

"In this hospital, there are no benevolent healers—just a bunch of executioners with blood on their hands..."
