Chapter 1: Rebirth

"Buzz..." A ringing sound filled her ears, accompanied by a sharp pain in her head. The jade-like beauty lying on the ground furrowed her brows.

It hurts! Her head hurts so much!

"This is System 009, successfully bound to the Host. Initializing operation... 1, 2, 3!" A cold, mechanical voice echoed in her mind. The young woman's eyelids were forced open as if by an invisible force.

The throbbing in her head began to fade, and the ringing in her ears gradually subsided. An Wen stared blankly at the pink-and-white tiled bathroom before her, her mind hazy as she wondered: Is this heaven?

An Wen had struggled in the Entertainment Industry for twelve long years, chasing her dream of stardom. With no background or formal training, she relied solely on sheer determination. She spent five years as an extra and stunt double, enduring bruises and injuries for two or three years while working as a martial arts stuntwoman. In such an environment, her acting skills improved rapidly, her martial arts prowess grew, and even her dancing ability advanced. A few months ago, her new drama aired. Thanks to her likable supporting role and the poor acting of the female lead, she rose to fame overnight, becoming a third-tier actress.

But the female lead was a top-tier celebrity with a fiercely loyal fanbase. As comparisons between them grew, the fans turned their anger toward An Wen, digging up so-called "scandals" from her past! The online sentiment shifted drastically, and she instantly became the target of public criticism.

Her company had never valued her—a plain-looking woman with no connections. When the top-tier actress failed to transition successfully, she blamed An Wen. Unwilling to provoke the influential star, the company decided to abandon An Wen. Faced with the online smear campaign, the company offered no defense but instead posted an apology on social media. An Wen was left speechless, watching as trending topics demanded she "get out of the Entertainment Industry."

Depressed and disoriented, she slipped on a bar of soap in the bathroom, hitting her head against the bathtub. Her vision grew increasingly blurry...

But now, where was she? The surroundings and the pain in her head felt all too real.

"System 009 requests the Host to choose: 1. Receive information immediately. 2. Receive information gradually over three days."

Where was this voice coming from? An Wen pushed herself up with her hands and realized she was beside the bathtub. She noticed her hands—fair and slender, a stark contrast to her rough, calloused ones.

These aren’t my hands!

"Host, I must remind you—I am inside your mind," the mechanical voice stated.

Inside her mind! An Wen was the type to grow calmer under pressure. Instinctively, she pressed her fingers against her temples but suddenly felt something wet. "Are you... speaking inside my head?"

"Correct. I am communicating within the Host’s mind."

"Why are you in my head? What happened to me? Where is this place?"

"The Host’s powerful Grudge attracted and bound me, allowing me to assist in your Rebirth."

"Rebirth!" An Wen’s eyes widened as she recalled novels her friends had described. "You’re a System? The kind that can do anything and take people through different worlds?"

"No. I can only grant you Rebirth. Whether you continue to live depends on yourself."

After hearing this, An Wen steadied herself and stood up, only to notice blood on her hands and a pool of it on the floor. "Then how do I stay alive?"

Heaven had given her a second chance at life. After suffering so much in her past life, she swore she would never touch the Entertainment Industry again!

The mechanical voice rang out again: "Warning! Warning! Do not entertain such thoughts, or the Host will be Erased!"

"You can hear my thoughts?"

"I'm inside the Host's head, of course I can hear you! The Host's task in this life is to resolve the grudges from your previous life, so such thoughts are unacceptable."

"Grudges?" An Wen murmured.

"Host, do you remember what you were thinking in the last moment before losing consciousness?"

Author notes:
  1. This is a pure crack-filled wish-fulfillment novel—enter at your own risk! Proceed with caution! Main focus is on career, with the female lead's halo THIS BIG O(∩∩)OO(∩∩)OO(∩_∩)O.

  2. A silly little wish-fulfillment novel for the author's self-indulgence—just have fun! Don't argue logic with the author; the author will definitely lose (=´口`=).

  3. Crack-filled novels bring endless joy—you'll never guess what ridiculous plot twist the author will write next, and neither does the author! So only those with strong mental fortitude should continue.

  4. The author is a fragile glass woman who shatters at the slightest touch—or even self-shatters into dust! Humbly begging online for gentle criticism (づ◡ど).
