Chapter 17: The Cheater Leaves the Rocket Class

Chapter 17: The Cheater Leaves the Rocket Class

An Wen pretended not to hear and walked to her seat, but everyone in the classroom had their eyes fixed on her.

Zeng Xiuman turned around and asked, "An Wen, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," An Wen replied.

"What could possibly be wrong? She transferred straight into the Special Elite Class—her background is so strong the school wouldn’t dare cross her," Zou Yingying said coldly.

An Wen was beautiful and usually quiet, so most people in the Rocket Class had a favorable impression of her. But cheating on exams was something they couldn’t tolerate.

In the Rocket Class, if you cheated on an exam, you didn’t deserve to stay—no matter what you looked like.

"An Wen, did you really cheat?" Shi Jing asked.

"Shi Jing, the Teaching Director and the subject teacher both said she cheated. Why are you even asking?" Zou Yingying said impatiently.

"Our homeroom teacher set a class rule: if anyone in our class cheats on an exam, no matter how the school handles it, they have to leave the Rocket Class," Shi Jing said with concern. "An Wen, have you met with the homeroom teacher yet?"

"No need to see the homeroom teacher. If you cheated in this class, you leave!" a classmate interjected.

"An Wen, you should just apply to transfer out yourself," someone suggested.

"Since the school won’t publicize your cheating, if you transfer out on your own, we’ll keep it quiet for you," Shi Jing said.

Tang Rui suddenly spoke up. "An Wen, did you really cheat?"

Shi Jing and the others were stunned. "Tang Rui, what do you mean by that?"

A girl immediately stood up angrily. "Why should we cover for her? If you dare to cheat in this class, you get kicked out. Just because she’s pretty, you feel sorry for her? What about pity for those of us who stay up late studying?"

"That’s right!" another girl said coldly.

"It’s not wrong at all," An Wen said calmly, her gaze drifting toward Shi Jing. "The Rocket Class rule that cheaters must leave is completely reasonable. Cheaters disrupt the fairness of exams, and in a school with such fierce competition, that’s something that provokes public outrage! Without punishment, there’s no way to appease the anger."

"So you’re saying you feel guilty and are voluntarily leaving the Rocket Class?" Wu Yufei couldn’t help but ask.

"I’m saying cheaters should leave the Rocket Class. Since I didn’t cheat, why should I leave?" An Wen’s tone was puzzled, her clear, innocent eyes filled with confusion.

The Rocket Class students found An Wen’s face deceptively convincing. Just hearing her say that made them inexplicably believe her a little.

"You still won’t admit it?" Zou Yingying said coldly.

"Admit what?" An Wen asked, baffled. "Today is really strange. First, the Teaching Director called me in and accused me of finishing the test too quickly, suspecting I knew the questions in advance. But the school itself is only suspicious—nothing’s been confirmed. So how is it that the moment I step out of the office, the whole school knows about it?"

"If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it in the first place," Zou Yingying retorted.

"Exactly. If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it. Spreading rumors about someone cheating before the school has even investigated—hurting a classmate and damaging the school’s reputation—whoever did this will definitely be found out and severely punished."

"How is this hurting the school?" Wu Yufei asked, confused.

"The school hasn't confirmed anything yet, but rumors are already spreading as if it's official. If it turns out I'm innocent, won't the school be responsible for letting these rumors run wild? Spreading unverified information that harms students—what kind of school does that? Would parents feel safe sending their kids here? If my rights are violated, I'll hold the school accountable in court!"
