Chapter 4: The Rocket Class

Chapter 4: The Rocket Class

A middle-aged woman in a suit walked into the classroom. Though her expression was gentle, there was an undeniable sharpness between her brows. She spoke softly to An Wen, "You must be An Wen. Starting today, you’re part of the Rocket Class. Let me help you with your books."

With that, she picked up the stack of books on An Wen’s desk.

"I’ll help too!" A boy sitting behind An Wen suddenly offered, bending down to grab another pile of books.

The beautiful transfer student, who had never spoken a word in the Special Elite Class, gave him a gentle smile and said softly, "Thank you!"

"No problem, no problem…" The boy stammered shyly, his hands trembling slightly as he held the books.

When An Wen and the others entered the Rocket Class, the top students—who were almost always buried in their books—looked up. Under their gazes, An Wen’s belongings were placed at the last seat of the third row, with no deskmate.

"As a new student, you’ll sit here for now. The monthly exam is in six days, and seats will be rearranged based on grades after that," the Rocket Class homeroom teacher explained.

"Understood. Thank you, teacher," An Wen nodded.

The homeroom teacher then left the classroom.

With her things settled, An Wen ignored the lingering stares and began organizing her desk. Once done, she pulled out her Chinese textbook according to the day’s schedule written on the blackboard.

Taking a light breath, a smile flickered in An Wen’s eyes.

An Wen, do your best!

The girl sitting in front of her, her hair tied in a ponytail, suddenly bent down to pick something up. Turning around, she handed An Wen a pen with a friendly smile on her fair, bangs-framed face. "Your pen."

An Wen accepted it and smiled back. "Thank you!"

The girl seemed pleasantly surprised and waved her hand. "No need to thank me. I’m Zeng Xiuman. You’re so pretty."

An Wen replied warmly, "In March, the peach blossoms bloom; in April, the vines flourish. Your name is lovely."

"Right?!" Zeng Xiuman’s eyes lit up with agreement. "Most people say my name is tacky, but they just have no taste."

An Wen chuckled softly and lowered her head to flip through her textbook.

Zeng Xiuman, sensing that An Wen wasn’t as aloof as the rumors suggested, couldn’t resist chatting a bit more.

"An Wen, what happened to your head?"

"Nothing serious, just a minor accident," An Wen replied.

"Look at the first seat in our row and the first seat in the fourth row!"

Following Zeng Xiuman’s cue, An Wen glanced ahead. In the first row of the third group sat a girl with short hair, while the first seat in the fourth group was occupied by a boy, his back turned as he worked on exercises.

"What about them?" An Wen asked.

"We went to the same middle school. Those two were the top academic rivals back then—always battling for first place on the honor roll! Of course, now you’ve shaken things up." Zeng Xiuman lowered her voice since the classroom was quiet. "Last time, you scored 10 points higher than Wu Yufei. They’ve been studying like crazy this month. Will you be okay after taking so much time off?"

"Thanks for the reminder, but I never neglected my studies at home," An Wen assured her.

Unlike students in other classes, the top students in the Rocket Class carried the weight of their parents’ and school’s expectations. After sparing a few more glances at the pretty new girl, they quickly refocused on their textbooks.

With the monthly exam approaching, not a single student left their seat when class ended.

This was just as well. An Wen sat quietly in her chair, absorbing the original owner's memories while flipping through her textbooks to reinforce the knowledge in her mind. During lunch in the cafeteria, Zeng Xiuman invited her to eat together, and An Wen agreed.

Their group consequently became the focus of attention from others in the school.

After school in the afternoon, An Wen took a car back to her villa. Just as she arrived at the gate, she noticed a Bentley driving out from inside.
