Chapter 22: Re-examination
Chapter 22: Re-examination
"Liu Ayi, I..."
"Let me tell you, Mr. Chu is a very traditional man. The woman must take the first step. Many socialites have tried to attract him with their charm, but none succeeded." Liu Ayi whispered cautiously, as if revealing some top-secret intelligence.
Looking as though she wanted to pour her heart out late into the night, Liu Ayi opened her mouth to say more, but An Wen placed the cup on the table and said, "Thank you, Auntie, but I’m really sleepy right now. Can we talk tomorrow?"
"Sleepy? Then you must rest immediately! You’re at the age where you need to grow! I’ll leave right away and not disturb you!" With that, Liu Ayi opened the door and left.
An Wen smiled as she closed the door, then glanced at the couple cups on the table with a look of utter despair.
What to do with an overly concerned housekeeper?
A man as stern and meticulous as Chu Qichen would probably only appreciate refined and well-mannered ladies from respectable families. Gifts for him should be things like ties or luxury watches. If these couple cups were presented to him, he might just throw them out the window!
No one had probably ever given him something like this. His expression would surely be priceless.
She couldn’t even imagine that scene.
The next day, by the time An Wen woke up, Chu Qichen had already left for the company. She enjoyed a relaxed breakfast.
She arrived at the classroom for morning self-study, where her classmates eyed her curiously, knowing she was taking the re-examination that day. An Wen, however, remained unfazed, scrolling through Weibo on her phone the entire time.
When the bell rang, signaling breakfast time for boarding students, An Wen was still engrossed in catching up on the latest entertainment news. It wasn’t until the homeroom teacher came to fetch her that she slung her backpack over her shoulder and headed to the teaching director’s office.
The first test was Chinese. The homeroom teacher watched her the entire time, and the teaching director dropped by frequently. Just like during the Monthly Exam, An Wen handed in her paper 40 minutes early.
After a ten-minute break, she began the English test. An Wen cooperated fully, answering questions almost instantly after reading them—except for the listening section, which she took more slowly. It was as if she didn’t even need to think.
While she worked on the English test, the homeroom teacher graded her Chinese paper. She finished before An Wen even completed the listening section and then stared at the paper in disbelief, flipping through it repeatedly.
An Wen finished the English test especially quickly. When she handed it in, the English teacher was stunned. She took the paper and slowly walked over to the homeroom teacher’s desk. She had watched An Wen answer the questions and barely spotted any mistakes!
Originally, only Chinese and English were planned for the re-examination, but since An Wen finished so quickly, the teaching director decided to add another subject.
The math teacher was currently teaching the Rocket Class for the second-year students, so the teaching director called in the senior math group leader, who had no classes, to supervise An Wen.
An Wen then proceeded to demonstrate that she hardly needed to think when solving math problems. Her handwriting was fast, and the entire office echoed with the rapid scratching of her pen.
The senior math group leader, who was watching her, grew paler by the minute. When the bell for the fourth period finally rang, the math teacher from the second-year Rocket Class—who rarely ended class on time—unusually announced, "Class dismissed!" and hurried toward the teaching director’s office with his teaching materials.
The Rocket Class students thought he must have been in a hurry to use the restroom.
When An Wen arrived at the teaching director's office, she had already submitted her exam and packed her bag before leaving. Upon seeing him, she greeted him politely. He entered the office to find the Senior Math Group Leader reviewing An Wen's submitted test paper. He quickly approached and asked, "How did my student perform?"
The Senior Math Group Leader's face was pale, his gaze filled with envy as he handed over the exam paper and said, "See for yourself."
He took it and checked—the first multiple-choice question… correct! The second… correct! The third…
He couldn’t believe it—from multiple-choice to fill-in-the-blank questions, she had answered every single one correctly!
