Chapter 19: As Expected of the Woman I Chose

Chapter 19: As Expected of the Woman I Chose

Hearing his words, the boys around him whooped and whistled, their rowdy demeanor resembling bandits descending a mountain to kidnap a bride.

Unaware that she was about to be "rescued," the would-be bride, An Wen, thought to herself: These kids really have too much free time on their hands!

An Wen was taken to an abandoned auditorium. As soon as they entered, Shi Jing’s friends locked the door behind them. Seeing this, An Wen smiled faintly.

"Shi Jing, where’s the delicious food you promised?" An Wen asked.

"Stop pretending!" Shi Jing shook off An Wen’s hand, her pretty face twisted with resentment as she said coldly, "I warned you to keep a low profile. Since you refuse to take the easy way, today I’ll make sure you learn how to survive in this school."

An Wen found her words amusing. "Alright then, go ahead and tell me how I should survive here."

No sooner had she finished speaking than the girls closed in, their glittering manicured hands reaching for An Wen’s face and hair. But moments later, they were all lying on the ground, groaning in pain after being effortlessly subdued by An Wen.

"You bitch!" Shi Jing cursed, though she no longer dared to lay a hand on An Wen.

"Shi Jing, how could you say such a thing? Our homeroom teacher teaches literature, but she certainly never taught you that word," An Wen remarked.

"I won’t let you off!" Shi Jing hissed, clutching her sore elbow, her eyes red with fury at the humiliation she’d never experienced before.

"I suggest you do let me off, because no matter what, you and your friends can’t beat me. Doesn’t that just make you mad?" An Wen tied her long hair back with a pink butterfly hairband, a few loose strands framing her face, making her look innocent and pure. Even in her blue-and-white school uniform, her ethereal beauty was undeniable, and her words, though sharp, carried no malice.

"Being angry won’t help. You can’t beat me in a fight, and you can’t outscore me in exams. Wouldn’t it be better to just call a truce?" An Wen proposed.

"Never!" Shi Jing roared in rage.

An Wen chuckled. "Suit yourself."

She pushed open the auditorium door and walked out, only to run into Jiang Yiwen and his group, who looked at her in shock and confusion.

Jiang Yiwen: Did my plan to swoop in and save the beauty backfire?

An Wen smiled faintly at them before heading toward the cafeteria.

Jiang Yiwen: My future girlfriend looks so beautiful when she smiles.

The boys around him: An Wen… no, wait—Sister-in-law is stunning…

When they peeked into the abandoned auditorium, they saw the girls inside sprawled on the floor, groaning and cursing in disarray.

The boys were stunned. Did Sister-in-law do this? How could such a quiet, pretty girl be so violent? We were too late—how could we let her handle this herself!

Meanwhile, Jiang Yiwen smirked, thinking to himself: As expected of the woman I chose!

"Boss, your smile is so creepy I’m scared…" Zhou Zhiyuan rubbed his arms, shuddering.

By the time An Wen reached the cafeteria, only a few people were left in line, sparing her the wait.

The cafeteria was noisy, and unlike the Rocket Class students who only talked about academics, some students were discussing An Wen, the actress playing Qing Sha in Ding Qian Kun, speculating about what she might look like.

Though an An Wen was sitting right beside them, none of them connected the trending celebrity with the girl in their school uniform.

During lunch, An Wen took out her phone again, and the trending topics about her still hadn't cooled down.

In the afternoon class, Shi Jing glared at An Wen with undisguised malice, completely abandoning her usual pretense. An Wen acted as if she didn't notice.

After school, An Wen spotted the car sent to pick her up and walked toward it.
