Chapter 3

After a quick rest, Qin Han pressed forward. Ahead lay the shrub-covered Level 2 Wild Area, where packs of sleek-furred, fierce-eyed Wild Wolves prowled in the distance. His heart sank slightly. Beyond the Wild Bull Grassland, wild beasts would attack on sight. With his Level 0 strength, encountering higher-level monsters would spell disaster.

Steeling himself, he carefully avoided the wolves’ line of sight and continued onward. Time passed slowly.

Once he cleared the Level 2 Wild Area, he took a mountain shortcut, bypassing several other wild zones and significantly cutting down his travel time.

More time slipped by.

After what felt like an eternity, he arrived at an ancient forest. Towering trees stretched endlessly, their dense canopy blotting out the sky. The air was thick with an eerie chill, and faint wisps of white mist drifted through the shadows, lending the place a sinister, foreboding aura.

Behind a massive tree—so wide it would take three people to encircle it—Qin Han stood rigid, his back pressed against the bark, his breath held.

On the other side of the tree, a Giant Serpent, nearly ten meters long and as thick as a barrel, slithered silently. Its green, watermelon-like patterned scales glistened as its forked red tongue flicked in and out. Eyes the size of light bulbs scanned its surroundings.

Even through the tree, Qin Han could smell the overpowering stench of the serpent.

A Level 10 wild beast—the undisputed ruler of this forest.

At his current strength, Qin Han stood no chance. If discovered, death was certain.

Silence.

The world around him grew unnervingly still, so quiet that the drop of a needle could be heard. No insects buzzed, no birds called, not even a rustle of leaves in the wind. The only sound was the faint thudding of his own heart.

One second.

Two.

Three.

Minutes stretched like centuries.

Suddenly, a pheasant burst from the underbrush nearby, its fluttering movement catching the serpent’s attention. The massive head whipped around, its heat-sensing vision instantly locking onto the low-flying bird. With a powerful twist of its body, the serpent lunged after it.

As the sound of the serpent’s movement faded into the distance, Qin Han didn’t hesitate. He bolted from behind the tree and sprinted desperately up the mountain.

The mountaintop had been flattened, its center housing a fenced archery training ground. The setup was simple—just a few targets, a rack for bows, and a lone Guest-Greeting Pine near the cliff’s edge.

Under the blazing sun, a man clad in leather armor leaned against the pine, eyes closed as if dozing, a weathered longbow cradled in his arms.

Qin Han, hands on his knees, gasped for breath, his back drenched in sweat. Yet his eyes remained fixed on the bow-wielding man like a long-lost kin.

After half a day of grueling travel, he had finally arrived—safely.

After a minute of recovery, his stamina somewhat restored, Qin Han hurried over.

This man was the Beginner's Archery Training Instructor, one of the fixed NPCs in the Endless Beginner's Village. Not only could he teach archery skills, but passing his marksmanship test would also reward players with archery equipment based on their performance. Those who excelled might even earn the exceedingly rare opportunity for a class advancement.

Moreover, players who achieve a perfect score in the assessment will receive a top-tier profession change qualification.

The first player to achieve a perfect score will not only obtain a top-tier profession token but also be rewarded with a unique treasure.

This place is far from the Beginner's Village, hidden deep within dense mountain forests, in an exceptionally remote location. Right now, it’s likely that no one else from this village besides Qin Han could find it.

Even among the nearly one million Beginner's Villages of the Blue Star civilization, absolutely no one else could locate it.

However, Qin Han aims to surpass not just them but the infinite universe—everyone in the Endless Beginner's Villages.

Though, in the early stages of the game, to ensure fairness, the strength of monsters in each Beginner's Village is dynamically adjusted.

For example, if an ordinary person from Blue Star struggles to kill a Wild Bull, then even those from advanced civilizations would face similar difficulty.

But, the top martial artists on Blue Star, or someone like Liu Kuang, possess a higher Constitution than the average person, giving them an advantage from the start.

And in Martial civilizations, the disparity between individuals is even greater.

For instance, in the lowest-tier Martial civilization, the average Constitution in a Beginner's Village ranges from 20 to 200.

The game only scales monster difficulty based on the weakest players, meaning those with a Constitution of 200 are essentially born with an extra 20 levels compared to others.

These people can explore much farther right from the beginning.

Even if they don’t know about this place, given the sheer probability, among the endless Beginner's Villages, there are likely already tens or even hundreds of billions who have discovered it!!!

Furthermore, archery is a fundamental skill for many martial practitioners.

The exceptional ones achieve Archery Mastery, hitting every shot without fail.

In other words, most of these people could pass the archery assessment!!!

However, Qin Han, a man from the weakest civilization, dares to compete against hundreds of billions of elites—

naturally, he has his own advantages!

Suppressing his emotions, Qin Han rushed to the NPC and cut straight to the point:

"Instructor, I want to take the archery assessment!"

The archery instructor was visibly surprised.

"To think someone could find me in such a remote place while I’m in seclusion."

"It seems fate is unavoidable."

"Child, since we’re fated to meet, I can give you a chance to change professions."

"However, I see you have no foundation in archery. I suggest you first learn the basics before taking the assessment. After all, you only get one attempt."

"No need. I’ve already learned it. Let’s start the assessment now."

Qin Han directly cut off the instructor’s words.

The Beginner's Archery Training Tutorial was a lengthy process, requiring at least half an hour—

time he couldn’t afford to waste.

"If you insist, then I’ll oblige." The archery instructor shrugged and pointed to the nearby weapon rack.

"Take a bow and arrows. We’ll begin the first assessment immediately."

Qin Han swiftly complied.

Then, the two arrived at the fixed targets in the training ground.

The archery instructor pointed at the targets ahead and said sternly, "There are five targets in front of you, at distances of 50 meters, 60 meters, 80 meters, 100 meters, and 120 meters."

"You must fire five arrows within ten seconds. A perfect score is 50 rings, excellent is 40, good is 30, and passing is 20."

"Only by achieving a perfect score can you proceed to the next assessment. Remember, you only have one chance—make it count."

Qin Han nodded, gripping the Training Bow and drawing it twice to familiarize himself with its feel. As a player who had reached the Final Battlefield in the game, his experience was already at a veteran level. He had dabbled in nearly every gaming skill, and for archery—a skill almost indispensable for everyone—he had honed his technique to near perfection.

Taking a deep breath, Qin Han said, "Begin!"

The next moment, a countdown materialized in the air before him.

...

The numbers rapidly dwindled.

Qin Han's gaze sharpened as he nocked an arrow, his eyes fixed on the Bullseye.

In an instant, time seemed to slow to a crawl—even the countdown appeared to freeze.

Holding his breath, he released.

The Wooden Arrow whistled through the air.

Before the first arrow even struck the Bullseye, Qin Han had already nocked a second.

Whoosh!

Another arrow flew.

His movements grew faster and faster—three swift whooshes followed in rapid succession!

The next second, Qin Han lowered his bow.

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!

The muffled sounds of arrows hitting their mark echoed one after another.

Lifting his gaze, he saw it—all five Wooden Arrows had struck the Bullseye!

From the side, the archery instructor's astonished voice rang out, "Fifty rings—perfect! Your archery talent is astounding. Given time, you will undoubtedly become an exceptional marksman."
