Chapter 55
Chapter 55
Otherwise, that single moment might have frozen him solid!
Gritting his teeth against the discomfort, he struggled to command Nightmare to continue charging downward.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
In the narrow confines, Qin Han was struck repeatedly. Fortunately, with Nightmare by his side, the journey remained perilous but ultimately safe.
Ten minutes later, he finally descended the mountain. Below stretched an icy plain, sparse in vegetation and endless in expanse.
"Nightmare, accelerate!"
This terrain was practically Nightmare’s domain—like a fish leaping in the vast ocean or a bird soaring through the boundless sky! Here, he could move without restraint, no longer forced to tread cautiously under such oppressive conditions.
With a crack of the reins, Nightmare’s speed reached its peak as they charged straight toward Thunder Poison Island.
This time, it took only about an hour—just an hour—before Qin Han arrived before an immense, mist-shrouded lake so vast its edges were invisible.
Though the water appeared clear, upon closer inspection, faint purple arcs of electricity could be seen flickering beneath its surface.
Thunder Lake!
The barrier surrounding Thunder Poison Island!
The lake not only brimmed with thunder energy but also concealed countless Thunder Monsters lying in wait, ready to devour any creature foolish enough to attempt crossing.
Legend spoke of an unfathomably terrifying dragon slumbering in the lake’s depths.
Gazing further into the distance, the faint outline of a massive central island could barely be discerned on the horizon.
"That’s Thunder Poison Island. In both my past and present life, this is my first time heading there. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint."
Steeling himself, Qin Han urged Nightmare onto the lake’s surface.
True to its divine nature, Nightmare could tread upon water effortlessly. The moment its hooves touched the lake, white energy extended beneath them, allowing it to move across the surface as if on solid ground.
However, the instant Nightmare stepped into the lake, the thunder energy within the water began gathering relentlessly.
Crackle! Buzz!
Pale purple arcs converged into a force field, enveloping both rider and steed.
Nightmare, being a divine horse, was immune to all harm.
As for Qin Han, his staggering 750 points of Lightning Resistance filled him with absolute confidence.
Snap! Crackle!
Countless high-voltage arcs surged against his body, but his formidable resistance formed an impenetrable barrier. No matter how violently the currents raged, they couldn’t so much as scratch him.
"Good! Excellent! Preparation pays off. Anyone else would’ve been stopped dead at the lake’s edge!"
With the arcs posing no threat, Qin Han grinned and spurred Nightmare toward the distant island.
As they advanced, Thunder Monsters—crocodile-like creatures measuring 10 meters in length, crackling with multicolored electricity—burst forth from the water one after another.
Their massive jaws snapped shut, intent on swallowing Qin Han and Nightmare whole.
Yet Nightmare’s speed was simply too great. Not only did the monsters fail to land a bite, but the sheer force of their attacks shattered their own teeth instead.
Qin Han felt exhilarated.
These Thunder Monsters boasted thick HP and high defense, but their speed was pitifully slow. For creatures as sluggish as turtles to even dream of hitting him was laughable.
With a light chuckle, he retaliated mid-charge by firing an energy arrow from the Godslayer Bow!
The arrow shot forth, piercing straight through a Thunder Monster’s eye.
A yellow damage value of -2020 floated high into the air.
Followed by a deep green poison damage of -200.
There was also the Lightning Ring's additional 30+ points of lightning damage, but against the Thunder Monster, this lightning damage couldn't even break its defense—not even a single point of forced damage was dealt. The Thunder Monster had astonishingly high HP and defense, reaching over 50,000! If an ordinary level 20 player were here, even if the Thunder Monster were tied to a tree for them to attack, it would still take them ages to whittle it down.
Yet, with the Godslayer Bow's defense-ignoring property, the Thunder Monster's defenses were as flimsy as paper. Combined with the toxin attacks from the Witch Poison Pearl!
Swish, swish! A few arrows later, the Thunder Monster's HP plummeted rapidly, and in no time, it was left with only a sliver of health!
"Oof, oof!" The Thunder Monster, writhing in pain, actually twisted its body and dove into the water.
He hurriedly fired two more arrows, but the Thunder Monster submerged quickly, soon disappearing into the depths.
What a shame!
