Chapter 31
Chapter 31
The monsters on the second floor of the Ancient Tomb had significantly higher HP compared to those on the first floor. Even with the three of them working together, it took a long time to defeat just one. For now, they had no intention of venturing further down.
From a distance, the trio watched Qin Han gallop away on his majestic steed, knowing full well they couldn’t catch up.
Li Hao sighed, "We farmed monsters all night but never caught a glimpse of the big shot. We thought he’d already gone back, yet here we are, running into him again early in the morning."
"Too bad we can’t keep up. A big shot is a big shot—even the way he rides a horse is effortlessly cool."
Liu Kuang added, "This Ancient Tomb is weird. We tried exploring it at midnight, but no matter which passage we took, we kept looping back to the first floor. If we weren’t careful, we’d end up right where we started."
"After half an hour of effort, the deepest we managed was the third floor. Going any further was impossible."
"I bet the big shot already knows the layout down there."
"But I just can’t figure out how he got so far ahead."
Li Ran chimed in, "The world of a big shot is beyond our comprehension. Let’s just focus on ourselves."
"Come on, let’s hurry back. If we run into him, we’ll return the money we earned from selling loot last night."
The three nodded and set off together toward the village.
As they walked among the diverse players on the road, Li Ran suddenly felt a pang of emotion.
"This game has only just begun, and we have no idea what lies ahead."
"Honestly, I don’t even know how long we’ll survive."
"Brother Liu Kuang, we’ve been through life and death together. How about the three of us form a permanent team from now on? That way, we can watch each other’s backs."
Liu Kuang readily agreed, "Deal. After what we’ve been through, I trust you two completely. From now on, my back is in your hands."
Meanwhile, Qin Han raced back without pause.
By the time he reached the village, the number of players had thinned considerably.
The Altar area was completely deserted.
Seeing this, he finally relaxed.
Finding a secluded corner, he dismissed Nightmare and strode briskly toward the Altar.
Once there, not wanting to risk any delays, he immediately pulled out the Saint-level Token and the Hidden Profession Pharmacist Token, placing them on the Altar without hesitation.
Just like before, the two tokens intertwined, collided, and merged into one.
This time, however, the newly forged token was pure white like jade, wreathed in a faint, ethereal Purple Mist.
Qin Han picked it up, and a chilling sensation surged through his body, instantly refreshing his exhausted mind after a full day and night of exertion.
"Now, all that’s left is to wait for the Village Chief to arrive, and I can complete my Job Change."
"I can’t wait to see what this world’s only Divine-level Profession—one that no one in past or present has ever obtained—will bring me in terms of power!!!"
On the Altar, Qin Han waited leisurely.
Though the Village Chief hadn’t shown up yet, he wasn’t the least bit anxious.
After all, the token was already in his hands.
Within the Myriad Realms, no one could compete with him now.
A little sooner or later made no difference.
The only thing on his mind now was— Why was the Village Chief deliberately making him wait? What was his real motive?
What kind of quest could the other party possibly have?
Moreover, they’ve already stood me up once before.
No matter what, they should show up this time, right?
Sure enough, just as Qin Han’s thoughts settled, he spotted a gray-haired old man hobbling along with a cane, dragging his feet step by step toward the Altar.
At that speed, he was even slower than an old lady crossing the street.
Qin Han gave him a glance but paid no further attention, letting him continue his ‘shuffling’ toward the Altar.
In his past life, he’d had dealings with this Village Chief before.
This old codger was absurdly healthy—so vigorous he could practically walk with a gust of wind.
He was nothing like this frail, half-dead wreck pretending to be on his last legs.
He even remembered how, in his past life, this old codger had taken a liking to a female shop assistant at the village’s clothing store.
