Chapter 33

Qin Han's next few words shattered the Village Chief's composure completely!

Qin Han: "Changing jobs is such a trivial matter, yet you make it sound so difficult. If you don’t want to do it, I’ll just go to another village to get it done."

Village Chief: "Child, this is the Eternal World. Transferring villages is no joke—it’s not something you can do on a whim."

Qin Han: "Oh? I heard that getting the first kill on the bandit leader at Falling Cloud Peak rewards a Village Transfer Token. Not sure if it’s true, but I might as well try. After all, with your exorbitant job change fee, I can’t stay in this village any longer."

Upon hearing this, the Village Chief’s face turned pale, as if struck by lightning.

Though he didn’t know the full extent of Qin Han’s strength, he had some inkling of it.

Falling Cloud Peak was a level 20 zone, and even ordinary bandits there were beyond the reach of current players.

But for Qin Han? It likely wouldn’t be a challenge.

If Qin Han were truly driven away by his actions, not only would the task fall through, but without someone of Qin Han’s limitless potential guarding the village, the Village Chief’s very life might be in jeopardy in the future.

Realizing this, the Village Chief wilted like frostbitten eggplant, his spirit utterly deflated.

He hurriedly backpedaled:

"Ah, I didn’t expect you to be so determined about changing jobs. I’m truly moved. Fine, I’ll pay for your job change out of my own pocket."

He thought these words would placate Qin Han.

Yet, to his surprise, Qin Han’s stance remained unshaken.

"Don’t bother. I don’t want to owe you any favors, Village Chief. Let’s just part ways here. I’m sure the chiefs of other villages would welcome me with open arms."

The Village Chief was left speechless, choking on his words.

At last, it dawned on him:

A person capable of obtaining a Divine-level Token—no matter how weak they might seem now—was not someone a mere Village Chief could easily manipulate.

His expression shifting repeatedly, the Village Chief let out a long, weary sigh.

Finally, he laid his cards on the table.

"Ah, forget it. Since things have come to this, this old man dares not hide the truth from you any longer."

"Truth be told, changing jobs doesn’t actually require money. I only said that because of an unspeakable predicament I’m facing."

He gave a bitter laugh.

"To be frank, the Blade Hall Master is my son!"

Qin Han frowned. "So, Village Chief, were you trying to avenge your son?"

He hadn’t expected the root of this incident to trace back to the Blade Hall’s quest—let alone that the Blade Hall Master was the Village Chief’s son!

The Village Chief hastily waved his hands, dejected. "You’ve misunderstood, child. Hear me out, and you’ll understand."

"This all started with my little granddaughter."

"That girl has been mischievous since childhood, always causing trouble. But with her father and me protecting her, she’s always gotten by unscathed. Until last month, when she played a prank on a Traveler drinking at the village tavern."

"Enraged, the Traveler kidnapped her and left a note: if I wanted my granddaughter back, I’d have to find him in the Blackstone Domain."

Qin Han’s brow furrowed.

Blackstone Domain? He’d never heard of such a place in his past life.

But the game world was vast beyond measure, with endless uncharted territories. Even though he’d once reached the Final Battlefield, it was impossible for him to know everything.

He said, "Since he said to find him at the Blackstone Domain, with the strength of your Blade Hall and the Village Chief, why not just go and take him by force?"

The Village Chief shook his head and sighed, "Alas, you don’t understand. The space-time barrier at the entrance of the Blackstone Domain is extremely thick—ordinary methods can’t break through it. So, to shatter the barrier, we must obtain a divine artifact."

"Coincidentally, that divine artifact is in the hands of the Sword Dojo master, Sword Maniac."

"Unfortunately, Sword Maniac is utterly unyielding. No matter how much my son and I pleaded, he refused to budge. In the end, worn down by our persistence, he set forth a nearly impossible task."

Qin Han said, "Don’t tell me that task is for someone from the Blade Hall to complete the Sword Dojo’s 36-level trial?"

Hearing this, the Village Chief smiled bitterly. "Exactly. In this village, you’re the only one who has passed the Blade Hall’s trial. So, my son and I both believe you might also be able to pass the Sword Dojo’s trial."
