Chapter 41

The fact that the Village Chief was willing to give him these Amplification Tokens showed just how much he was investing in this.

"You know as well as I do that these things are only useful to players. To me, the Village Chief, it doesn’t matter who I give them to. But my understanding of players is nowhere near as deep as yours. If you take them, they might actually be of some help," the Village Chief continued.

"This old man truly has nothing else to offer. I can only hope this small favor will encourage you to put a little more effort into rescuing my granddaughter. With your strength, accomplishing this should be as easy as taking candy from a baby."

Qin Han couldn’t help but find this amusing.

An Epic Quest guaranteed at least some Heavenly Dao Points as a baseline reward, not to mention a super Treasure like the Sky-Shattering Stone as a component.

How could he possibly pass up such an opportunity?

Then again, it made sense.

A single Sky-Shattering Stone, if used properly, could become an unstoppable weapon.

And when combined into the super Treasure, the Sky-Shattering Shuttle?

This old Village Chief probably had no idea just how valuable this item was to him.

Otherwise, a miser like him would never have parted with even a single extra feather.

"Don’t worry, Village Chief. I always keep my word. I’ll help you complete that matter as soon as possible."

Having reassured the Village Chief with a firm look, Qin Han happily left with the five newly acquired Amplification Tokens.

……

Once he stepped out of the Altar, Qin Han immediately concealed his Divine-level Halo.

That thing was far too eye-catching.

From a distance, it made him look like some divine being descending to the mortal world, flaunting his presence.

If he kept it active, he could forget about ever having a peaceful life again.

Fortunately, even in its hidden state, the halo’s effects remained active, so there was no need to worry about that.

Leaving the Altar, he headed straight for the Commercial Street.

This was the heart of the entire village.

Almost every item in the village could be found here.

At the start of the game, players could claim free, worthless basic equipment here.

It was also a place where some players could pick up quests, though they were scarce and the rewards mediocre.

As a result, most players wandered around once and rarely returned.

At the moment, aside from a few players engaged in trade and the occasional rare quest-taker, the street was mostly filled with NPCs.

After all, the game had just begun, and most players were broke—very few could afford to spend anything here.

After walking a short distance, Qin Han spotted a massive golden screen set up in one corner of the street.

A bald merchant dressed in lavish robes stood there, smiling as he watched the passing players.

"Step right up, take a look! Dark Gold Equipment giveaway! Just One Gold Coin for a chance to spin! One Gold Coin could make your dreams of becoming a top player come true!"

But the price of One Gold Coin per spin immediately deterred every player who passed by.

Even so, despite the lack of customers, the bald merchant maintained his Buddha-like smile, leisurely calling out his pitch.

Qin Han observed this and prepared to approach—there was an important item he needed there.

But just as he took two steps, a trembling voice called out from behind him.

"B-Big Boss… could you spare us a moment?"

The voice sounded familiar.

Qin Han turned and saw Li Hao, Liu Kuang, and Li Ran staring at him with pleading eyes.

But their trembling voices and unsteady legs betrayed the fear in their hearts.

Qin Han felt puzzled.

What did these three want with him?

Were they here to thank him for last night’s incident?

But it was just a trivial matter, hardly worth his attention.

With a slight shift in thought, Qin Han said, "You have one minute. Explain your business."

Hearing this, the trio completely forgot the speech they had prepared, their words scattering like clouds in the wind.

Stammering and hesitating, they struggled to articulate themselves as the seconds ticked away.

Li Ran quickly spoke up, "We... we wanted to thank you for saving our lives last night."

"This is the money from selling the equipment we gathered from those players. We kept a few pieces for ourselves but converted their value into the total."
