Chapter 2: Promotion
After testing the Internet Divine Technique and confirming its functionality, Yu Sheng'an and Luo Xiya hurriedly set out to promote it!
Standing before the ancient castle's mana transfer well, Yu Sheng'an took a deep breath, pondered for a moment, and then tossed in a hundred Mithril Rings.
A flash of teleportation light later, the hundred rings vanished from the formation.
They would randomly appear in Willis City, the capital of the Keville Empire.
This was one of the 1,026 teleportation points marked by Tang En and the location Yu Sheng'an had carefully chosen to promote the divine technique.
The Keville Empire, located at the southern tip of the Azerian continent, was not particularly large in territory.
Yet, it was one of the rare magical kingdoms.
The entire empire was built upon magic, rejecting deities. The influence of the Five Great Righteous Gods here was limited to divine techniques—they didn’t even have the right to establish churches.
In fact, even divine techniques were only treated as backup spells by the mages.
After scattering the Mithril Rings, Yu Sheng'an found himself in an agonizing wait.
Originally, he had planned to use this time to systematically study magical knowledge, but he soon realized he couldn’t focus at all.
An hour later, one of the Mithril Rings was finally activated.
Yu Sheng'an instantly located the ring and, using the power of his divinity, opened the Divine Perspective.
A scene immediately appeared in his mind.
A young mage apprentice in white robes casually flipped through the nearly blank Internet page and sneered, "What kind of fake god is this? 'Internet Divine Technique'? What a joke!"
With that, he crushed the Mithril Ring in his hand.
Crushed it...
"You bastard!" Yu Sheng'an's face stiffened, and he couldn’t help but curse, "Just you wait, you piece of shit! I dare you to never go online in your damn life!"
Before he could finish his outburst, the Mithril Rings he had scattered were activated one after another.
Yu Sheng'an could no longer dwell on that symbolic first user and quickly turned his attention to the others.
To his dismay, shortly after activation, the rings were deactivated one by one.
Many were even casually dismantled back into raw materials.
Yu Sheng'an was stunned, his anger dissipating into confusion.
His expression darkened.
This wasn’t right!
In his vision, the Internet might not have been an instant sensation, but at the very least, the first batch of people who found the Mithril Rings should have treated them like treasures!
Sure, this world had alternatives like Magic Letters, Owl Messengers, and Lightning Messengers for communication, but none could match the real-time convenience of the Internet!
Families, friends, merchant guilds, mercenaries, kingdoms—what scenario wouldn’t benefit from it?
Where had he gone wrong?
As Yu Sheng'an racked his brain, another Mithril Ring was activated.
Instinctively, he looked over and saw a young girl fiddling curiously with the social page, exclaiming in amazement, "Wow, this looks so fun! Brother, you engrave one too—let’s see if we can chat!"
Before she could finish, the young man beside her suddenly paled, snatched the ring from her hand, and scolded, "Have you forgotten what the teacher taught? Those who use divine techniques are inevitably watched by the gods!"
The Divine Perspective cut off before the words fully registered, but Yu Sheng'an shuddered, his eyes widening in realization.
No wonder no one was using the Internet Divine Technique—the root of the problem lay here!
To put it bluntly, it's about the fear of privacy leaks, isn't it?
Yet, even after identifying the cause, Yu Sheng'an couldn't bring himself to feel happy.
Because this very issue was one he found nearly impossible to resolve.
The only ones unafraid of being watched by gods were likely believers.
They might even welcome divine attention!
But the question was—could he spread his teachings?
Even if he borrowed the time-tested doctrines from Blue Star, the Five Great Righteous Gods would probably brand him a heretical god and crush him before he could even begin promoting them.
For a moment, Yu Sheng'an fell silent.
He had been too naive, too sheltered by society.
He had assumed that as a transmigrator, casually introducing something ahead of its time would instantly amaze everyone and dominate the world.
But reality was far harsher than he imagined.
Yu Sheng'an had a sinking feeling that even if he forced the issue, the Internet Divine Technique would only see limited adoption.
Those with means would reject it outright, opting for expensive magical tools instead.
If he wanted to rise above, the only path seemed to be a slow, grueling grind.
But that was the last thing Yu Sheng'an wanted.
He was too weak—aside from his divinity, he was just an ordinary mortal.
If the Five Great Righteous Gods ever found him here, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
He still wanted to return home, and he wanted to return in glory!
So he needed power, and he needed it fast.
Gathering Source Essence to fuel his divinity and indirectly gain strength—that was the quickest path he could think of.
At least it was far simpler than mastering magic.
Yu Sheng'an exhaled and turned away from the Teleportation Mana Well.
He wandered aimlessly through the ancient castle, his mind both blank and teeming with endless thoughts.
He liked pacing when deep in thought.
He couldn’t understand—why was it that on Blue Star, people readily surrendered their privacy to software, yet here, it was an insurmountable barrier?
Aside from believers, was there really no other solution?
Under what circumstances would someone knowingly use a divine technique, fully aware that a god would be watching, and still choose to do so without hesitation?
The moment this question surfaced, Yu Sheng'an abruptly stopped in his tracks, his eyes flashing with sudden clarity.
He had thought of a solution!
......
......
From a distance, Luo Xiya noticed Yu Sheng'an's gloomy expression.
After a moment’s hesitation, she quietly retreated to her room, pretending she hadn’t seen anything.
She decided that unless Yu Sheng'an summoned her, she would avoid appearing before him—except when delivering meals.
She could tell his mood was foul.
If she had to guess, the spread of the Internet Divine Technique wasn’t going well.
And really, why would it?
The technique couldn’t attack, couldn’t defend, and offered no enhancements.
In a world as perilous as this, its failure was practically guaranteed.
So for now, it was best to stay out of his way—no need to invite misfortune by crossing his path.
Though he had always seemed gentle before, her cousin had also appeared refined and kind...
Yet in the end, for the sake of a title, he had slaughtered her entire family without hesitation.
Back in her room, Luo Xiya found herself at a loss.
The castle was vast, but among its inhabitants with true intelligence, aside from its master, she was the only one.
Her former master, Tang En, had been an Archmage—he had always trusted magical constructs far more than living beings.
She even felt a hint of nostalgia for the days when her old master, Tang En, was still around.
He always had endless magical projects to research, constantly assigning her various tasks, so she had always been busy.
Occasionally, she could even leave the Ancient Castle to procure magical materials—those were her happiest moments.
Now, everything had changed. She was idle, yet she felt even lonelier.
Cultivation?
Forget it!
Her fate was already bound to the Ancient Castle. If the castle crumbled, she would perish. Whether she cultivated or not made little difference—she was merely a wisp of a wandering soul.
Time passed swiftly.
One day, Luo Xiya went to the library. Staring at the dozen or so travelogues and poetry collections she had long since worn out, she gritted her teeth and took down a Magic Book, intending to pass the time.
But without any real motivation, she quickly lost interest in the arcane and tedious tome.
Bored out of her mind, her gaze drifted unconsciously to the ring on her finger.
It was the Mithril Ring crafted by her new master, Yu Sheng'an, to carry the Internet Divine Technique.
The only reason she wore it was to show a semblance of loyalty.
After a moment’s thought, she activated the Internet Divine Technique.
In her friends list, there was only Yu Sheng'an—added during the initial testing phase.
She knew he hadn’t sent her any messages, but she still logged in out of habit.
Yet when the illusory scroll interface unfolded before her, she froze at the sight of several newly added window buttons.
