Chapter 68: Werewolf and the Formal Alliance

If divine techniques were akin to leasing out a portion of a divine spark's authority, then a virtual divine spark was leasing out its entire authority.

Though divine techniques—or even virtual divine sparks—could not exert the slightest power in the presence of their true owner, and could even backfire with a mere thought from them, recklessly handing over a virtual divine spark to another was still an extremely dangerous act.

This would expose the foundational authority of the divine spark. Once other gods became aware of it, the risks were self-evident.

At best, one would lose the deterrent of the unknown.

At worst, it could lead to targeted ambushes and assassination.

Thus, no god dared to hand over their virtual divine spark to another.

This was the root of Aphnora’s disbelief!

She had been eagerly anticipating what flowery rhetoric Yu Sheng'an might spin with his silver tongue.

Yet, to her surprise, he had been so blunt—without the slightest attempt at concealment.

"Hahaha..."

A mocking laugh echoed through the bedchamber.

She laughed at Yu Sheng'an's childish naivety, and even more at his audacious, delusional ambition!

After a long while, Aphnora finally stopped laughing, her fair cheeks flushed from the unrestrained mirth.

"Very well. Then, will you also hand over your virtual divine spark to me?"

Aphnora spoke leisurely, already prepared to enjoy Yu Sheng'an's glib performance.

"No problem. Shall we begin the exchange now?"

Yu Sheng'an, who had been watching her laughter calmly, nodded.

He raised his right hand, and in his palm, an indescribable, blinding light silently materialized.

It was a virtual divine spark!

Silence.

A sudden, suffocating stillness descended upon the bedchamber.

Aphnora's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Yu Sheng'an in utter disbelief.

She had never expected him to produce a virtual divine spark so readily!

This completely shattered all her assumptions!

Could it be that he truly came with sincere intentions?

But how could he dare to trust her?

Wasn't he afraid she would betray him?

Wasn't he afraid she might be a secret ally of other gods—or even a hidden agent of the Five Great Righteous Gods planted among the Pantheon?

"You..."

"Surprised? I told you, we can create greatness together! We could even become the only two Righteous Gods—or invite more like-minded deities to form the Pantheon, overthrow the Five Great Righteous Gods, and reshape the divine order!"

Yu Sheng'an spread his arms, his tone dripping with temptation.

His boundless ambition was laid bare in this moment!

Aphnora's pupils dilated sharply.

She stared blankly at this man before her—who had sung love songs, whispered sweet nothings, and laughed without a care—as if struck by a world-shattering blow, her soul trembling violently.

She pressed her lips together, turned, and walked to the window, gazing outside.

At this moment, Duofei City was a scene of prosperity, bustling with construction and strange puppets roaming everywhere.

Yet, the beastmen armies on the horizon were an eyesore.

Yu Sheng'an did not rush her, standing in silence as he awaited Aphnora's decision.

Exchanging the virtual divine spark of Contract for that of Music was, in his eyes, an absolute windfall!

The internet was a platform—music was merely content.

After the exchange, the Music Goddess would be entirely dependent on him.

She could not, nor dared she, use the virtual divine authority to create a new internet.

Because that would mean shaking the very foundation of his power.

With a single thought, he could dissolve her internet.

As for contracted creatures?

The more creatures she bound, the more severely she would depend on him.

Because once they turned against each other, Yu Sheng'an, as the true master of the Contract Godhood, could effortlessly annihilate her virtual divine spark and dissolve all her contracted creatures.

And him?

The foundation of his internet would remain completely unshaken. The only loss would be the music function—no, rather, the divine music capability.

An unknown amount of time later, Aphnora turned around, her gaze calm as she looked at Yu Sheng'an and said, "You possess more than one divine spark, don’t you?"

Yu Sheng'an's pupils constricted sharply.

"And in the future Pantheon, you will be the dominant force, won’t you?"

Aphnora delivered another devastating blow.

Yu Sheng'an pressed his lips together, his mind racing.

Before he could formulate a response, Aphnora spread open her right hand, revealing an indescribable, blinding radiance in her palm. "Let’s exchange."

"Huh?" Yu Sheng'an was stunned.

Seeing his shocked expression, Aphnora smiled faintly, mimicking his earlier words. "Surprised?"

She tucked a strand of silver-white hair behind her ear. "I’ve carefully considered every possibility. The chance of you deceiving me is still over fifty percent. But... I’m willing to take the gamble."

"Because..." Aphnora glanced out the window. "I’ve decided to trust my intuition this once. They say a woman’s intuition is terrifyingly accurate. What do you think?"

"Big sis—" Yu Sheng'an started, then quickly corrected himself. "No, my dear lady, hearing you say that actually makes me a bit uneasy."

"Scared?" Aphnora smirked playfully.

"A little!" Yu Sheng'an probed cautiously. "You’re not one of the Five Great Righteous Gods, are you?"

In movies and dramas, weren’t the biggest bosses always the most unassuming characters?

What if this Music Goddess was actually an avatar of one of the Five Great Righteous Gods?

"Pfft—" Aphnora burst into laughter. "Guess?"

"Damn it, Werewolf is the game I hate the most!"

Yu Sheng'an muttered under his breath. With a wave of his hand, a pre-prepared Contract Document materialized before them.

"Sign this, and then we’ll exchange the virtual divine sparks."

It was a soul-bound oath contract, listing every conceivable scenario Yu Sheng'an could think of.

The gist of it was:

"Whoever is a lackey of the Five Great Righteous Gods shall immediately have their soul scattered."

"Prior to this, I have not formed any alliances or made any agreements with other deities."

And so on.

This was an instant-enforcement contract. Even as the God of Contracts, violating it would cost him dearly—if not his life, then at least a severe toll.

Because it was instant-enforcement, there was little room to twist its terms.

Aphnora skimmed the contract and chuckled. "Now you’re starting to show some potential as the King of Gods."

As she spoke, she extended her delicate fingers and began adding clauses to the Contract Document.

Supplementary terms.

As she filled in the details, Yu Sheng'an’s expression gradually darkened.

Not because these terms were unfavorable to him, but because many were meticulous additions he hadn’t even considered.

For a moment, he even had the illusion that Aphnora was more suited to be the God of Contracts than he was!

Her mastery of wording and loopholes far surpassed his own.

After Aphnora finished her additions, Yu Sheng'an also calmed down.

He painstakingly scrutinized every word, ensuring there were no loopholes, before finally signing his name with soul power.

Shortly after, Aphnora also signed her name.

Interestingly, both of them kept Divine Perspective activated almost the entire time, carefully observing each other’s signing process to guard against any tricks.

Only after the signatures were completed and the Contract Document dissolved into three beams of light—one entering Yu Sheng'an, another Aphnora, and the last vanishing into the void—did the two finally relax.

Then, they observed each other briefly, confirming that neither showed any adverse reactions, and at last, they were assured of each other’s sincerity.

"Pleasure working with you!"

Yu Sheng'an extended his right hand, the virtual Contract Godhood hovering above his palm.

"If you deceive me, I swear I will spend the rest of my life making you regret it. Believe in the obsession of a woman."

Aphnora delivered her final warning, extending her own right hand, which held the virtual Music Godhood, and clasped Yu Sheng'an’s hand in a firm shake.

Under the authority of the contract, the two deities shattered the curse of the Dark Forest Principle of the multiverse, formally forging their alliance.
