Chapter 9: The Great Being from Azure Star

"See this? From now on, the Internet has its own magic academy!" Daisova pointed at the Virtual Scroll and shouted excitedly.

As his voice faded, the second-year student classroom for magical runes erupted into chaos.

"The Internet has a magic academy? Where is it? How do we attend classes?"

"Damn it, my Mithril Ring was confiscated! Who’s hiding one? Hurry up and check what’s going on!"

"My heavens, the Youthful Mentor actually became an instructor at the Internet Magic Academy?"

"What? The Youthful Mentor?"

"And not just her—look, there are several other instructors too, all introduced as Grand Archmages!"

"Wow, basic courses are completely free, and advanced courses only require Points to audit. It doesn’t even seem expensive—a second-year student’s class only costs 50 Points. According to the description, you can even use Points to apply for one-on-one consultations with the instructors!"

"50 Points isn’t expensive? How many people would you need to refer for that? Featured posts aren’t easy to get."

"You don’t know yet, do you? They just updated a Sign-in Rewards Points feature. Day one gives one Point, day two gives two, and so on. If you sign in consecutively for seven days, you get seven Points! That means seven straight days of signing in gives you 28 Points. In half a month, you could save up 50 Points!"

The classroom was in complete uproar.

Countless students whispered and discussed fervently, almost disregarding the禁令.

Brad’s expression changed drastically. He immediately activated the Internet Divine Technique to check.

The next second, his body swayed, his face turning deathly pale. Without even bothering to reprimand the students, he bolted out of the classroom to report to the dean.

Why did the Felix Magic Academy ban the Internet Divine Technique?

Precisely because it severely challenged the academy’s authority over the interpretation and governance of magic!

Before the Internet existed, there were essentially only two ways to practice magic:

Either through family inheritance, or through academy training.

The former, to some extent, was actually a branch of academy training—just the legacy of outstanding students spreading their knowledge.

Even magical families would send their disciples to magic academies for further study.

They sought great mentors, formed close friendships, and built connections, so that after graduation, they could enter the power centers of the Keville Empire and share in its magical resources.

The Keville Empire controlled its mages—and thus the empire itself—through its network of magic academies, large and small!

Originally, the Internet’s challenge to the academies’ monopoly on magical interpretation had already infuriated them, prompting the ban.

Who could have imagined it would go so far as to establish its own magic academy? This wasn’t just shaking the foundations of magic academies—it was digging up the empire’s ancestral grave!

Internet God!

You are ruthless!

Before Brad could even reach the Ring Law Magic Tower, a vast, invisible, and razor-sharp magical shockwave rippled out, sweeping through the entire magic academy.

It was the Magic Alarm, signaling an emergency meeting in the magic tower!

‘It seems Archmage Dandell already knows about this!’ Brad sighed but didn’t slow his steps.

By the time he arrived at the seventh-floor Forbidden Divine Magic Conference Room via a short-distance teleportation array, the place had already turned into a bustling marketplace.

Countless mages, their faces filled with panic, fury, or grim determination, had gathered, arguing loudly.

Some even lost their composure, stomping and cursing!

Due to the agitated emotions, an Elemental Storm erupted, sweeping through the conference room.

Fortunately, there were no weaklings present—otherwise, those with lower cultivation might have been injured by the storm!

"Silence! Take your seats!"

Before long, Dandell arrived.

The mages barely suppressed their chaotic thoughts and took their seats one after another.

On some of the empty chairs, human-shaped beams of light rose—countless Archmages from distant locations had also joined the meeting.

At the four highest seats of the Round Table, aside from Dandell, two phantom figures unexpectedly appeared today.

They were none other than two of the Keville Empire's Four Pillars—the God of Magic, Qimoer, and the God of Magic, Beixi.

"Everyone, I assume you already know what has happened. What are your thoughts on this matter?" Dandell cut straight to the point.

The purpose of this meeting was to gather collective wisdom.

Instantly, the conference room erupted in chaos.

"Lord Dandell, the Internet God is provoking our Keville Empire! We must issue a nationwide decree to completely ban the Internet Divine Technique, expel the Internet Believers, unite with the other gods, and suppress—or even kill—the Internet God!"

Some hot-tempered individuals immediately called for bloodshed.

"Exactly! The Internet God is proselytizing! He's using magic to spread his faith. If we allow the Internet Magic Academy to continue spreading, he will become the God of Magic, and the freedom of magic in the Keville Empire will cease to exist! We must strangle this in its cradle!"

The mages clamored, their killing intent boiling.

It was no wonder they were so agitated.

The Keville Empire had many magic academies, but all of them had fixed locations, were under imperial control, and had enrollment quotas for apprentices each year.

Though they competed—even despised one another—it was ultimately due to differing magical philosophies and disputes over resource allocation.

But what about the Internet Magic Academy?

It did not belong to the Empire, was not bound by imperial constraints, yet it could absorb magical talent from within the Empire—this was shaking the very foundation of imperial rule!

One could imagine that those unable to enroll in traditional magic academies, driven by their instinct to pursue power, would inevitably turn to the Internet Magic Academy to learn magic.

The key issue was that the Internet Magic Academy had no geographical limitations. A single teacher could instruct thousands—even tens of thousands—of magic apprentices. This was practically cheating—who could compete with that?

Once these people grew stronger, they would only resent the Keville Empire's magic academies and be grateful to the Internet Magic Academy for giving them the opportunity to learn magic!

In the long run, the Empire would inevitably collapse!

"It's too late. No one can ban the Internet now."

A soft sigh, like a bucket of cold water, doused the boiling atmosphere in the conference room.

Everyone turned in shock to see the youngest Grand Archmage, Lucien, looking at the three Gods of Magic as he said, "My lords, I suggest contacting the Internet God as soon as possible to initiate negotiations and discuss this matter."

"That damn false god has already bullied us to our doorstep, and you still want to negotiate?!"

"Lucien, you traitor, atone for your sins!" someone roared.

"Lucien, why do you say that?" The God of Magic, Dandell, ignored the others' curses.

Lucien swept his gaze across the crowd and raised his right hand. On his little finger was an exquisite Mithril Ring, engraved unmistakably with the Internet Divine Technique.

Under the watchful eyes of the assembly, he removed his ring, crushed it, and began to murmur a prayer: "O great existence from the Azure Star, You are the Master of Language and Script, the Founder of the Internet. Under Your shelter, I shall connect with all living beings and the myriad things."

As his voice faded, a Virtual Scroll slowly unfurled.

Instantly, the meeting room plunged into a terrifying silence. Countless eyes widened, leaving only the thunderous pounding of hearts in the air.

Lucien had recited a Prayer.

Prayers were incantations that only deities with unique divine authority could create and use.

They pointed to one and only one god.

For most Believers, this was the sole channel to communicate with their deity.

Of course, whether the god would respond was another matter entirely.

But no one had expected the Internet God to actively answer a prayer—let alone in such an absurd yet... efficient manner.

Lucien’s gaze swept slowly over his colleagues as he asked, "How can we ban this now?"

The meeting room remained deathly silent.

If the Internet Divine Technique required a Magic Book as a medium, even if a complete ban was impossible, at least most of it could be suppressed.

With the empire’s monopoly on violence, they could enforce decrees ruthlessly. Under the system of Collective Punishment, the Internet Divine Technique would struggle to survive.

At most, only a handful of Magic Books would circulate on the black market.

Most commoners would never even know of the Internet Divine Technique’s existence. In fact, under the empire’s propaganda, they might even come to see it as heresy!

But now?

Summoning the Internet through a mere Prayer—how could that possibly be banned?

The Internet Divine Technique itself did not grant its users power. On the contrary, using it continuously drained their Soul Power.

Yet it indirectly allowed users to wield legitimate, openly usable power.

No one could resist such temptation!

It was easy to imagine how many would secretly log in to learn magic.

If they failed, so be it. But if they succeeded, they could simply make up an excuse—finding a Magic Book, meeting a wandering Archmage... The possibilities were endless. Could the empire really raise the blade of Deicide over this?

If the empire truly went down that path, its collapse would be imminent.

"We can assign people to monitor the Forum..." an Archmage blurted out instinctively, but before he could finish, he shut his own mouth.

Lucien sighed. "Monitoring would, at best, stop people from posting. In reality, the Internet God has already plugged this loophole."

Under the stunned gazes of the crowd, Lucien tapped his Soul Mark. In the "Settings" option, everyone could clearly see a toggle labeled "Anonymous."

This final blow shattered the psychological defenses of every mage in the room.

"How could this be?"

"Are we just supposed to let him run wild?"

"Kill him! We must kill him! Only by killing him can we solve all of this!"

Some shouted, but more instinctively turned to three of the empire’s Four Pillars—Dandell, Qimoer, and Beixi.

They knew that Deicide was no simple matter!

Forget whether they could even find the Internet God.

Even if they did, the empire would pay an unbearably steep price.

Losing any one of the Four Pillars would be an unbearable loss—one that might very well bring the empire crashing down.

The Five Great Righteous Gods would never let the crumbling empire go unscathed!

The three Pillars clearly understood this as well, falling into heavy silence.

Qimoer, the God of Magic, trembled slightly, his white beard quivering. "Such inconceivable methods and power... I've never heard of anything like it. I fear... is the Internet God truly a deity of our world?"

His words sent a visible shock through everyone present.

Could it be... a dimensional invasion?
