Chapter 56: You Own a Small Domain Too?
Vias · Embassy
Yu Sheng’an watched as darkness gradually filled the bedroom, a faint trace of delight flickering between his brows.
After a night of cultivation, he had finally mastered the first-level dark magic, Dark Night.
This meant that, from today onward, he had essentially grasped all the foundational first-level spells of the conventional seven magic systems.
By Kuvell’s standards, he could now rightfully call himself a magic apprentice.
Such magical proficiency was, of course, pitiful compared to the reputation he had built.
If word got out, it would likely shock people out of their wits.
But from another perspective, mastering the foundational spells of all seven conventional magic systems in just two months was nothing short of a miracle!
Yu Sheng’an’s astonishing speed wasn’t due to any innate magical genius—it was simply because he possessed conditions that ordinary magic practitioners could never hope to achieve.
The Three Elements of Magic Cultivation: soul power, mana, and magic runes.
To illustrate their relationship—if magic runes were the gun, mana the loaded bullet, then soul power was the first force pulling the trigger.
The “bullet,” naturally, was the magical effect produced by the coordination of these three elements.
Ordinary magic practitioners cultivated soul power through Meditation, then used it to inscribe magic runes, and finally condensed mana to activate those runes.
The cultivation process was extremely tedious.
Especially magic rune studies—they were incredibly complex. Even battle-oriented mages, who didn’t bother understanding the principles and only sought to mimic the forms, required extensive trial and error to master them proficiently.
And with limited soul power, ordinary practitioners were hard-capped by their trial-and-error ceiling, no matter how hard they worked.
The fundamental reason Yu Sheng’an could master the foundational spells of all seven conventional magic systems in just two months was that he didn’t need to cultivate two of the three major elements: soul power and mana.
For the former, soul power, he could replenish it by devouring Source Essence.
Not only was it inexhaustible, but his soul’s strength also grew steadily under the nourishment of Source Essence.
As for the latter, mana, a single Mana-Sharing Contract provided him with an endless pool of contracted creatures acting as mana reservoirs.
Only magic runes, being intangible knowledge, offered no shortcuts—he had to grind through them with sheer effort.
“Magic cultivation is still too slow!” Yu Sheng’an sighed.
His progress was indeed rapid, but for someone of his “divine” status, this speed was still too sluggish—and somewhat redundant.
At this point, he was essentially a fragile summoner.
If someone got close enough to lop off his head, even an endless supply of life force wouldn’t save him from death.
Though it was just this god’s projection that would perish, it wasn’t an outcome Yu Sheng’an wished to see.
He still needed to find ways to improve his survival skills and forge alliances!
The more friends one had, the smoother the road ahead!
“Hah…”
Yu Sheng’an exhaled and stood up, leaving the bedroom.
After enjoying the breakfast provided by the Vias officials, he left the embassy, deciding to explore this Divine Kingdom on Earth on foot and observe the layout of Vias through his Divine Perspective.
In the early morning, Vias appeared leisurely and unhurried.
The pace of life here was slow—farmers ambled toward the city gates with hoes slung over their shoulders, occasionally stopping to chat with acquaintances they met along the way.
Commerce within the city was also underdeveloped. Businesses that thrived in Willis—magic artifact shops, weapon and armor specialists, taverns, inns, mercenary agencies, and the like—were virtually nonexistent here.
Mostly, there were shops specializing in musical instruments, clothing, jewelry, and other daily necessities.
This scene made Yu Sheng'an sigh inwardly.
This was both a good and a bad place. The people lacked competitive vitality, and while their lives appeared leisurely, the moment a crisis struck, there would be no room for flexibility or buffer—collapse would be imminent.
Was the Music Goddess putting on this display as a feint? Or was she truly resigned to her fate?
Yu Sheng'an observed, pondered, and mulled over how to persuade Aphnora.
As he walked, Yu Sheng'an suddenly sensed something and instinctively looked up. Ahead, on a small bridge, Aphnora stood quietly by the railing, clad in a sheer red dress, her eyes ethereal.
Citizens of Vias passed by the bridge from time to time, yet none seemed to notice Aphnora, their expressions unchanged.
Yu Sheng'an's heart stirred, and he quickened his pace, greeting her with a grin, "Waiting for me? Beautiful Sister Aphnora?"
Aphnora turned her head to glance at Yu Sheng'an and cut straight to the point, "Why seek an alliance with me? Among the gods, my authority is the most useless."
"Useless? Who said that?" Yu Sheng'an countered.
"Isn't it?" Aphnora looked at him in surprise.
"Your Music Godhood—I’ve looked into some records. Though I don’t fully grasp its underlying logic, I imagine it must be related to musical tones, influencing minds and even objects through sound."
"At its core, I suspect it’s a form of mechanical wave authority."
"Music can sway emotions, amplify joy or sorrow, boost morale, or soothe fear! On the battlefield, even if it can’t match the effects of battle auras, in large-scale warfare, your godhood would be the only one capable of rivaling the God of War’s."
"Secondly, mechanical waves—have you heard of sonar?"
"It’s essentially using the principle of echoes, calculating the time difference of sound waves to determine distance, enabling long-range detection! If this skill could be developed into a divine technique, it would surpass most detection magic because it’s silent and leaves no trace of magical fluctuations."
"Additionally, infrasound is also a mechanical wave—its wide-range lethality is absolutely no less than a Banshee's Howl!"
"And then there’s sound heating technology, ultrasonic cleaning, ultrasonic pulverization… oh, and I think there’s ultrasonic levitation too. The principle involves altering air pressure… I forget the specifics. Anyway, your authority might not enhance individual power much, but on a collective scale, it’s absolutely a game-changer in large-scale warfare!"
Yu Sheng'an spoke eloquently, making a clear gesture of goodwill.
The subtext was obvious: If I had ulterior motives, I wouldn’t be sharing this knowledge with you.
Sure enough, Aphnora was stunned.
She stared blankly at Yu Sheng'an’s casual expression, her mind reeling.
As someone who had wielded the Music Godhood for centuries, she had spent those years trying to uncover deeper layers of power.
In many areas, she had vaguely sensed something, but it was like seeing flowers through fog—she couldn’t pierce through that thin veil.
Now, with Yu Sheng'an’s offhand remarks, countless sparks of inspiration burst forth in her mind.
She had a premonition that many of her research hurdles would be resolved thanks to these few words.
"Why tell me all this?"
Aphnora asked, her life experiences making it difficult for her to trust others' goodwill.
"What a stupid question. Just show sincerity, no?"
"Wouldn’t it be better to kill me and take the divine spark?"
"Between two single-element mages and one dual-element mage, which side has the better odds?"
"Is that all?"
"Ah, my dear sister, you’re so paranoid. Even if I wanted to trick you, if you can’t win, you can always run, right? What’s there to fear? Why act so restrained?"
Yu Sheng'an rubbed his face, feeling that cooperating with someone suffering from severe persecution delusions was really damn hard!
Who knew what she had been through?
Or was it that most deities were like this, adhering to the Dark Forest Principle?
Hmm, that might actually be the case.
To be honest, if it weren’t for the fact that he couldn’t defeat Aphnora—and even if he could, stealing the divine spark wasn’t guaranteed—Yu Sheng'an would have really wanted to snatch the Music Godhood.
In his hands, that thing could absolutely become an "offensive-support divine spark."
Then again, no wonder the Five Great Righteous Gods could dominate the largest preaching zone on the Azarea Continent and crush the other deities!
Just the fact that they could cooperate seamlessly was something a bunch of scattered forces couldn’t compare to!
Who knew how they had built their system of trust?
Aphnora fell into silence.
After a long while, she raised her head and met Yu Sheng'an’s eyes, speaking solemnly:
"I have a small domain currently under invasion by the Beast God Bruhman. If you can help me repel the invasion, I am willing to form an alliance with you."
Yu Sheng'an felt as if struck by lightning, his spine tingling.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
"What? You have a small domain too?"
