Chapter 76: Dillon Adam and Tang En

Yu Sheng'an flicked his fingers, and the Firecloud Flower bloomed upon touching the ground, growing larger and larger.

As the petals unfurled one by one, a dragon egg half the height of a person quietly appeared within them. When the petals fully opened, the egg began to shake violently.

Crack!

A sharp black claw pierced through the shell, accompanied by a flow of murky fluid. The claw tore fiercely at the eggshell.

In just a breath, the shell was ripped open, revealing a hole the size of a bowl. Then, a pitch-black head struggled its way out.

Within its golden, rounded eyes, a pair of dark slit pupils reflected the figure seated upon the divine throne.

The nictitating membrane—the protective third eyelid—swiftly slid across its eyes before retracting just as quickly. The reflected figure remained. With a low growl, it tore at the eggshell with the fury of breaking free from a cage.

Two breaths later, Dillon Adam successfully freed itself from the egg and crawled out.

It resembled a bipedal lizard, roughly the size of an adult bully breed, its body pitch-black with faint golden patterns. Its forelimbs were slimmer than its hind legs, and folded membranous wings adorned its back.

"God of Contracts?" Dillon Adam spoke in the eerie draconic language.

"You may call me the Internet God instead," replied Yu Sheng'an, who now held the Contract Godhood and automatically understood the dragon's tongue.

"Internet God?" Dillon Adam tilted its head, attempting to search its inherited memories for information about this strange name.

But it soon gave up.

"I've slept for too long... I don’t even know how long it’s been. Perhaps some of the knowledge passed down by my parents has lost its value. My name is Dillon Adam. And yours?"

"Ajef."

Dillon Adam’s words surprised Yu Sheng'an.

Ever since obtaining this dragon egg, he had naturally researched relevant information. He knew that as a race capable of rivaling gods, dragons possessed remarkable intelligence and knowledge from the moment they hatched—born with innate wisdom.

Still, he hadn’t expected this hatchling’s intellect to be so advanced.

"Regardless, thank you for pulling me out of the abyss of death. With my fragile soul, I might not even have had the chance to become an Undead Dragon."

"Don’t mention it. Are you a black dragon?"

"No, I’m not one of those hot-tempered brutes. I’m a dark dragon!"

‘As dark dragons grow, the life around them inevitably withers—except for gods. They are a race despised by all living beings!’

‘Their malicious physiology is the price for their natural stealth and astonishing speed. They can always approach their prey silently and strike. You’d never imagine how a creature dozens of feet long in adulthood could move without a sound.’

Fragments of information about dark dragons surfaced in Yu Sheng'an’s mind.

"You seem even more irritable than a black dragon!"

"If you’d nearly died inside your egg, you’d be even more irritable than me!"

As Dillon Adam spoke, it flapped its membranous wings, now dried of egg fluid, and flew toward Yu Sheng'an, landing beside the divine throne and curling up.

The surging life energy radiating from Yu Sheng'an made it feel comfortable.

"I emerged a bit early... I still need to sleep for a while longer... What are you doing?"

Before Dillon Adam could finish speaking, Yu Sheng'an bent down, grabbed its forelimbs, and lifted them up under the dark dragon's puzzled gaze.

It was just like lifting the golden retriever he used to own.

Yu Sheng'an glanced down, then rolled his eyes. "Huh, turns out you’ve got the goods."

"You—"

The dark dragon’s slit pupils dilated sharply as it roared, "Internet God, I am grateful for saving my life, but you cannot humiliate me like this!"

"Relax, relax! It’s not even as big as mine—why so shy?"

"ROAR!" The dark dragon flared up, its wings flapping violently as it prepared to attack Yu Sheng'an.

But Yu Sheng'an was ready. In one swift motion, he grabbed the back of its neck.

The slippery dragon scales did nothing to stop his grip.

Dillon Adam’s body stiffened instantly.

"Just as I thought—the nape is every little creature’s weak spot!" Yu Sheng'an laughed triumphantly.

"You—" Dillon Adam felt like it was about to lose its mind.

Its bloodline memories told it that gods were supposed to be wise and rational, dignified and restrained by nature.

But what was this god in front of it?

He seemed more like a twisted demon from the depths of the abyss.

"Alright, alright, don’t be mad. I was just curious—how was I supposed to tell with that squeaky voice of yours? This is my Divine Palace, sleep wherever you want!" Yu Sheng'an teased.

Before he could finish, Dillon Adam’s black pupils suddenly merged into a single golden line.

Its body vanished from Yu Sheng'an’s grasp in an instant.

Holy—!

Yu Sheng'an’s pupils contracted. Seriously? It couldn’t take a joke?

Instinctively, he activated his Divine Perspective—but the sight that greeted him made his eyes widen in shock.

Creak...

A faint sound echoed as the heavy palace doors slowly swung open.

A frail, elderly figure shuffled inside.

The dim light in the hall illuminated the old man’s face.

He looked to be in his eighties, his steps unsteady, his sagging eyelids covered in age spots—so dark they almost resembled corpse marks.

His attire matched the style of the Kaman Empire from a thousand years ago, as ancient and mysterious as the castle itself.

Yu Sheng'an shot up from the divine throne, disbelief written all over his face.

"Tang En?!"

"We meet again, my successor," the old man grinned, his eyes brimming with smug satisfaction.

Yu Sheng'an’s pupils dilated.

"You’re not dead?"

"Why would I be?"

Yu Sheng'an’s face cycled through shades of pale and green as countless thoughts raced through his mind.

"You want the Godhood back?"

"Of course. It’s mine," Tang En replied mockingly. "Are you willing to return it?"

A figure flashed outside the hall.

Luo Xiya rushed in, her face a mask of shock—only to freeze at the entrance, staring at Tang En in utter disbelief.

"You shouldn’t have summoned me to this world," Yu Sheng'an said coldly, not even sparing Luo Xiya a glance.

"So that’s a no?" Tang En’s aged, decaying face hardened with resolve. "If you won’t give it back, then I’ll just take it myself."

The moment he spoke, an indescribable, blinding light erupted from Yu Sheng'an’s body—streaking straight toward Tang En.

Yu Sheng'an’s pupils shrank to pinpricks. He reached out desperately, but it was futile.

The Godhood is a conceptual entity. With his current attainment merely at the level of a magic apprentice, he wasn’t even qualified to grasp it.

"Don’t struggle in vain. A crown picked up with a sword is nothing but an illusion in the end. You were merely a lucky inheritor of my property. Now that I have returned, all that belongs to me naturally reverts to its true owner. This is the power of the contract—no one can defy it."

Tang En seized the Contract Godhood with unrestrained delight, his face alight with the ecstasy of reclaiming what was lost.

Some things are only truly cherished once they’re gone.

And the Godhood is even more so!

At that moment, Tang En’s aged face rapidly regained its vitality, filling with a healthy flush. Without the need for the Life-Sharing Contract, the Godhood alone could bestow eternal youth upon its host.

This was the power of divine law.

"Hmm? What is this?!" The moment Tang En obtained the Godhood and sensed its nature, his expression abruptly twisted into shock.
