Chapter 7: Surging User Growth

“What did you say? Daisova lost in a magic debate? I haven’t heard of any magic debates recently!”

“On the Forum? What Forum?”

“The magic knowledge the academy taught us is wrong? Th-That’s impossible!!!”

Overnight, Daisova’s defeat in the debate once again thrust him into the spotlight!

This was the second time he had sparked heated discussions within the Felix Magic Academy, following his improvement of a magic rune.

But this time, it far surpassed the last!

After all, ever since he entered the Felix Magic Academy, he had never made a mistake or suffered humiliation in the field of magic.

In the eyes of his peers, he was the very symbol of genius.

And yet, such a genius had actually lost in a magic debate?

How could this not shock everyone?

Originally, this matter was only known among a few close friends.

As Daisova’s friends, they should have covered up his embarrassment—but the incident was simply too explosive. Moreover, the thread had been Featured on the Forum, with thousands of replies.

How could these impulsive young men possibly keep their mouths shut?

In the blink of an eye, the news spread like wildfire.

Soon, countless students crafted Mithril magic artifacts engraved with the Internet Divine Technique just to witness Daisova’s humiliation.

Some even went so far as to carve it directly onto their Magic Wands.

When they activated the Internet Divine Technique and logged into the so-called Internet, everyone was dumbfounded.

While a significant number had initially come to mock Daisova, the moment they saw the Library on the Internet, his defeat was completely forgotten.

For the first time, they realized that magic knowledge could be accessed outside the magic academy.

It didn’t just cover introductory magic—it even included Forbidden Magic, knowledge only the God of Magic should possess!

Though the Points required to exchange for Forbidden Magic were terrifyingly high, it was still a path forward, wasn’t it?

This discovery sent the apprentices of the Felix Magic Academy into a frenzy!

Wealth stirs greed in men’s hearts!

At this moment, no one cared about warnings like “Those who use divine techniques will inevitably be watched by the gods.” Many succumbed to temptation, spreading the Divine Technique far and wide to earn Points and exchange for magic knowledge.

Some, preparing for the worst, hurriedly wrote letters to their families overnight, sending Mithril Rings engraved with the Internet Divine Technique, fearing the technique might soon be banned.

Beyond that, the Forum also captivated these newly connected “country bumpkin” apprentices.

Many who stepped into the Forum felt like villagers arriving in the city for the first time, utterly overwhelmed by the sheer variety of messages, stories, and intelligence.

Mercenary adventures, tales of overpowered protagonists like Long Aotian, stories of discarded young masters rising again, “don’t bully the young for their poverty,” and even accounts like the Adventure in the Qin Gate Guard Cave… The sheer diversity was dazzling!

For the ambitious, this was finally a place to discuss magic knowledge they couldn’t get answers for from their teachers.

Here, no one judged them by their background, looks, bloodline, talent, or whether they were worth cultivating.

As long as you asked a question, someone would answer.

And if you had doubts, you could simply search—chances were, you’d find similar questions and answers already waiting.

Here, true Archmage-level figures lurked.

Like the one who had defeated Daisova in debate—the user known as “Youth Knows Not the Cruelty of the World.”

He was always eager to answer most magic-related questions.

Many students who had been stuck at one or two critical junctures, unable to attain enlightenment and seeing their cultivation and studies stagnate, finally achieved breakthroughs under his guidance, their progress advancing by leaps and bounds.

For a time, countless individuals expressed their gratitude toward "Youth Knows Not the Cruelty of the World"!

And even more so, they were grateful for the emergence of the Internet!

It provided opportunities and possibilities for those who sought upward mobility but had previously found no path forward.

A great transformation, one capable of altering the social trajectory of the Azarea Continent, was quietly unfolding at the Felix Magic Academy!

Yet as this matter escalated, it inevitably came to light, eventually catching the attention of the academy’s higher-ups.

...

Felix Magic Academy, the Ringed Magic Tower.

In a conference room on the seventh floor, inscribed with divine prohibition magic, a meeting of Grand Archmages was underway.

In addition to the six Grand Archmages stationed at the academy, the Image Projection Technique had been activated, allowing those thousands of miles away to participate as well.

Presiding over the meeting was none other than the Dean of the Felix Magic Academy and one of the Four Pillars of the Keville Empire—the God of Magic, Dandell.

By now, the conference room had already devolved into heated, red-faced arguments.

"Is there even a need for discussion? This damned Internet God is nothing but a false deity, a heretic! Look at what’s become of our academy! Countless apprentices are questioning the correctness of the magic we teach! How can this be allowed to continue? The Internet Divine Technique must be banned outright!"

"Exactly! Publicizing magical knowledge—are they trying to plunge the empire into chaos?"

"There are already signs in the city I oversee—the price of Mithril has risen by 7% recently!"

"I propose an immediate ban on the Internet Divine Technique, along with an alliance with the Five Great Righteous Gods to suppress the Internet God!"

The Grand Archmages were in an uproar, their indignation boiling over, their dignity as the empire’s pillars nowhere to be seen.

Only a few mages remained silent.

After a long while, Dandell—his black hair streaked with silver, appearing just past the age of forty—rapped his knuckles on the table, cutting off the debate.

He turned to a young mage who had remained silent the entire time and asked, "Lucien, what are your thoughts?"

As soon as he spoke, the gazes of all the Grand Archmages snapped toward Lucien, many with a flicker of envy in their eyes.

As the empire’s youngest Grand Archmage, Lucien had long enjoyed Dandell’s favor.

This was evident from the fact that even in such a meeting, Dandell still sought his opinion alone.

Lucien stood, nodding to Dandell before organizing his words. "I believe the emergence of the Internet Divine Technique is, in fact, a double-edged sword for our Keville Empire!"

"The benefits are obvious. Our Keville Empire was founded on magic, resisting the gods and upholding the belief that man can conquer heaven. What made this possible? Magic!"

"But the cost of magical cultivation is too high, and the expense of identifying the gifted is even greater. Now, with the Internet Divine Technique, things are different. If everyone can practice magic, not only will our national strength rise to new heights, but the technique will also help us sift out true geniuses from the vast populace."

Before Lucien could finish, a mage impatiently interjected:

"You’re being too idealistic. The Internet Divine Technique will only allow magical knowledge to fall into the hands of the wicked, leading to widespread chaos."

"Exactly! If people can learn magic through the Internet Divine Technique, who will still enroll in our academy? Who will serve the empire?"

"Indeed, by then everyone will only be grateful to the Internet God, even becoming their Believers!"

"We’ll be ruled by the Internet God!"

The mages echoed in agreement, their faces filled with worry and anger.

"This is precisely what I was about to address!" Lucien cut through the clamor and continued, "What you all fear is nearly impossible. Magical knowledge is a systematic and profound discipline. Without resources or teachers, no one can achieve anything just by reading a few books!"

"The Internet Divine Technique will only produce countless magic apprentices among the common folk, but it will never flood the world with powerful mages! Or are you all worried that opening up magical knowledge will lead to so many Archmages emerging that they’ll push you out of your current positions?"

Lucien’s final taunt caused many faces to darken.

"Outrageous!"

"Do you even realize that learning magic requires resources? If everyone studies magic, resources will inevitably be diluted. How then can we cultivate a God of Magic?" someone retorted.

"How many resources can magic apprentices possibly consume? The empire’s majority of magical resources are already in our hands. We can precisely use these resources to attract the most exceptional talents," Lucien countered, turning their own arguments against them.

"Foolish! The most exceptional talents may be drawn in, but what about the rest? They’ll only fight madly for resources, plunging the empire into chaos."

"Nonsense! If everyone practices magic, it means the populace will grow stronger, capable of hunting and producing more magical resources."

The scene descended into chaos once more!

Everyone held firm to their views, refusing to yield an inch.

Dandell remained silent. His allowance of Lucien’s speech seemed only to stir debate, to hear dissenting voices.

After a long while, he rapped the table.

The room fell silent, all eyes turning to him.

He said, "You all make valid points. However, whether to ban the Internet Divine Technique is not ours to decide. Right now, you have only one task: to mitigate its impact on Felix."

"First, explain clearly to all magic apprentices the fundamental reason why the Abyss Formula is not taught to them."

"Second, strictly forbid all students from using the Internet Divine Technique. Warn them that we will monitor it closely—one strike for a warning, two for expulsion."

"Third, publicly release all low-tier magical knowledge from the Mage Towers to counteract the influence of the Internet Divine Technique."

The mages exchanged glances upon hearing this, and most of their eyes gleamed with excitement!

The Internet Divine Technique had ultimately shaken their core interests. Naturally, they couldn’t wait to ban it outright and reduce the so-called Internet God to ashes!
